The First Blog post

This is the official blog page for The Savvy Mermaid. My host has a note that I should use this "to talk about new product launches, experiences, tips or other news" that our fans and customers might like to read about.  So, that is what we will do!

NEWS? Yes, Plenty!  The new website was "soft" launched earlier this evening!  Just meaning it hasn't been announced yet on social media or email, while the last few tweaks are done.  One of the last tweaks is something I know you will all love!  I will wait to share the specifics on that until I have it up an operational (hopefully tonight or tomorrow)!  I have been MIA working to get this done, so I am glad to be back among the living and back to the part I love (the designing)!

Now I am going to make a disclosure.  I have been keeping a dark secret.  I am Silhouette Cameo version 1 owner.  I have avoided upgrading due to things I would hear about software bugs and quirks, and more.  Finally, things with the newest Cameo sound stable and even exciting!  And, a new Silhouette Studio software version that runs smoothly is being released too!  So, I am finally moving forward and getting the Silhouette Cameo 3 off Amazon for Mother's Day!  Does anyone else out there, or your significant other, pick out their own mother's day gifts?  I do let my dear husband know, so he can go through the checkout process on Amazon and have the box come with his name on it.  No checkout lines, no traffic, no shopping with kids....? Enough said.  We love Amazon in this house for many reasons!

That original cameo will likely become a backup machine, or maybe I will use it like a travel machine....

This is the one that I chose.  Amazon has some really great deals on these.  You can get bundles with all sorts of other vinyl and tools to get started, for the same price you will pay for just the machine in local stores!  This had what I needed including two auto-blades, and another mat (mine are in pretty worn shape right now).  The only other thing I added was the dust cover.

We would love to hear what version of the cameo you are using, and how long you've had it!  We will share news here, but also great deals on supplies.  We get lots of messages about what materials are needed to do the project, what kind of vinyl, iron or heat press, what brand of printable transfer paper, and so on.  We will be using this page to make it easy to find what you need.

In case I don't make it back to post before Sunday, I want to wish all of the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day!  And, for anyone who has a mother or child that has passed on, I hope that you are able to embrace many of your happiest memories with your special loved ones.
